George Bush is a terrorist

The Show is my most favorite thing on the web. During a show last week Zefrank likened the results of President Bush’s statements to those desireable by the terrorists, themeselves. While he didn’t go so far as to say he actually was a terrorist, one message board user, lachme, did, and did so with a concise elegance:

ze may not have said it, but i will — george walker bush is a terrorist.

he uses fear and terror to manipulate people to do what he wants. his followers bomb and kill the innocent while he spouts ideologies to justify these murders. he ignores the rules of honorable warfare and considers himself above the law. he is a religious zealot who is completely intolerant of those of faiths differing from his.

he is the very definition of the word terrorist.

Let’s re-examine the definition of “terrorism” : source: Websters
–noun 1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
    2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
    3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
Then, let’s look at the definition of a “terrorist”:
–noun 1. a person, usually a member of a group, who uses or advocates terrorism.
    2. a person who terrorizes or frightens others.
    3. (formerly) a member of a political group in Russia aiming at the demoralization of the government by terror.
    4. an agent or partisan of the revolutionary tribunal during the Reign of Terror in France.
–adjective 5. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of terrorism or terrorists: terrorist tactics.
Just to get things started, please explain why – and how – our president is defined as a terrorist.
    Thank you.

  3. Jane: I thought you were setting up a post where you agreed with me, as I would use that same dictionary definition to describe Bush (and his administration) as terrorists, mainly by definition 2 above: a person who terrorizes and frightens others.
This administration has repeatedly tried to instill fear in the American populace in order to keep them in line and get their agendas passed.
His own advisers have admitted to changing the Terror Alert levels to make political gains in the 2004 election by using a “strategy is aimed at stoking public fears about terrorism.”
Bush relies on keeping people fearful so that they don’t question what he is doing (giving unprecedented amounts of money to the rich at the expense of the middle and lower classes, ripping away protections for both the environment and people, and generally striving to bring about a radical agenda for this country that few actually agree with).
Here are some examples of how Bush uses fear in speeches. And here is a piece about why Bush needs to have fear to govern.
If you want to know more you could watch this video: The Bush Administration uses fear as a weapon (YouTube)
Or you could just search for Bush uses fear on Google and read any number of the more than 7 million results.
Oh and by the way, this is only how Bush terrorizes his own people. Please also consider the more than 600,000 Iraqi civilians who have died and refer to the text of the initial post for these points:
1). He uses fear and terror to manipulate people to do what he wants. (See above points)
    2) His followers bomb and kill the innocent while he spouts ideologies to justify these murders. (See: new reports of 600,000 Iraqi civilians dead)
    3) He ignores the rules of honorable warfare and considers himself above the law. (see: arguing that we should allow torture and his use of signing statements [examples] to ignore laws with which he doesn’t agree)
    4) He is a religious zealot who is completely intolerant of those of faiths differing from his. (more)
